Our Why
DeShawn Marcel Powell was shot and killed July 22, 2021, at the age of 20, while trying to help
his female co-worker who was being assaulted in the parking lot of the restaurant where he
worked.
This foundation exists in support of the effort to eliminate gun violence in our communities and
provide resources for survivors. As we fight the good fight to raise awareness of this epidemic
of gun violence, we continue DeShawn’s legacy of love and standing up for what is right even if
it means standing alone.

Our Mission

Vision Statement:
To create a community where all families impacted by gun violence are supported, voices are amplified, and opportunities are available for a future free from fear and loss.
